Sign & Display - Technical Sales Consultant​

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Signage Sales Consultant to join our dynamic team. As somebody in the signage and print industry already, you know that things can be complex, time frames move so this is all about organisation, communication and delivering on what you say you’re going to do.

Projects will vary massively. Think wayfinding, glass manifestations, exterior signage, shop facias, interiors, vehicle livery and everything else in between. You will be working with household name brands on some amazing projects with a great team of people.

Your primary responsibility will be to assess the requirements of each client and develop accurate estimates for their bespoke signage projects. You will work hand in hand with our design & production teams to understand client needs, interpret their ideas, and provide cost estimates that align with their budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation: Engage with clients to understand their needs, requirements and objectives. Provide expert advice on appropriate signage solutions, materials, and design.
  • Technical Sales: Present and sell signage products, including digital displays, wayfinding signs, illuminated signs, temporary signage, large format print, window manifestations and more, while explaining the technical features and benefits.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with internal teams (design studio, production team and installers) to ensure timely and efficient delivery of signage projects, from concept to installation.
  • Quotations and Proposals: Prepare and deliver accurate pricing estimates, detailed project proposals, and contracts, ensuring clear communication of project timelines and deliverables.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, technologies, and signage techniques, ensuring that clients receive innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing and potential clients to foster repeat business and referrals.
  • Site Surveys: Conduct site visits to assess signage requirements, take measurements, and identify potential challenges in collaboration with the install team
  • Cross-departmental Liaison: Work closely with design, production, and installation teams to ensure that client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Sales Targets: Make significant contributions to monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the business through a strategic approach to client acquisition and retention.
  • Post-Sales Support: Offer after-sales support, addressing client concerns, maintenance needs, and ensuring satisfaction with the final product.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of various signage types (e.g., digital, illuminated, wayfinding, architectural signage, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to offer creative and customised solutions.
  • Experience with CRM & MIS software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and installation techniques for signage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the signage & print industry.
  • Technical background or experience in signage, substrates, production, fabrication, or installation is a must.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to client sites for consultations and surveys.
  • Valid driver’s license.

What We Offer in Return:

  • Basic Salary – £35k + Car + Commission
  • Working Hours – 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Bench Joiner

Reporting to:  Workshop Manager

Salary:  Highly Competitive

Purpose:

We are MAD Colour. A local well established, family owned, design, print & manufacturing company specialising in the events & fit out sector producing ‘Creativity Materialised’.

Due to the continued growth and success, we have an exciting opportunity for a Bench Joiner to join our busy and dedicated team in our new purpose built joinery workshop. Working on show stopping exhibition stands, creative fit out projects and custom builds; no two days are ever the same.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced bench joiner on a full time, self employed or subcontracting basis. Whilst knowledge of the exhibition and events industry is not essential, candidates must have either carpentry and joinery, fit out or an electrical trade background.

Once production is complete you may be required to deliver and install & build the products at the event/exhibition venue mostly locally and on occasion nationally, which could require staying away.

Who we are looking for:

To be successful, applicants will have to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in carpentry / joinery, fit out or electrics
  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail is essential.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Good communication skills with the ability to deal with clients face to face.
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Maintain the highest standards of work, quality, and health & safety.
  • Physically able to lift heavy objects and handle power tools

In return we are offering:

Hourly wage dependent on skills, knowledge and experience
Working hours – Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm
Overtime will be available as per business needs (paid at time and a half)
31 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing by 1 per year to 34 days

Local client of MAD Colour ‘Andor Technologies’ is part of the Oxford
Instruments Group and put us forward to create this Group stand for their
Microscience Microscopy Congress show in Manchester.


The stand was split into 4 to represent different parts of the group and
include a lecture theatre with a 3m x 1.5m LED screen, suspended banner,
demo stations and working areas.

The MAD Exhibit team were tasked with creating a show stopping stand to launch the ‘Naked’ brand at the London Plant Based Food Show in 2021. This ‘Foods of the World Market’ stand consisted of an American Diner, Airstream trailer serving British cuisine and Naked Market with foods from around the world.

All of this was created in a day at the London show and shows what’s
possible with an end to end MAD solution designed, manufactured, built and installed by our integrated team.

The brief was to create maximum impact with a minimum footprint and the MAD team nailed it with this compact, robust stand that really punches above its weight and stands toe to toe with international food brands on aworld stage.

The modular system ‘Beach Shack’ was specifically designed to pack into flight cases to be transported on an international tour of exhibitions for innovative local producer Finnebrogue Artisan and they were delighted with the result which made a real splash on every stop.

Screens featured heavily once again with a six panel array and four
sperate work & demo stations. Custom counters, bus stop signage and illuminated acrylic lettering really took the Text Help stand to the next level and we cant wait to build it better once again in 2023!
